Website: http://www.innocentsorcerers.com

Warsaw based DJ/producer team founded in summer 2002 by Maceo Wyro & Envee. The name for the crew was taken from the 60's feature film by Andrzej Wajda, about a group of young jazz musicians livin' their life just like the beatniks, but under heavy communist regime. The movie was also about the inability to express true feelings in love.

Enter the 21st century Sorcerers!

Maceo is one of the Poland's most known leftfield DJ's; he started his career in 1992 as a resident dj in now legendary FILTRY club, which was the firts real club (not discotheque) in Poland. Maceo also played bass in several hc/funk bands. He lived in NYC for four years, where he dj'ed at several parties in Lower Manhattan & Brooklyn and also work as an in-store dj and electronica section manager at HMV Herald Square (Broadway&52nd). After returning to Poland, Maceo started hosting a very succesful radioshow at Radiostacja, Polands most famous youth station, which can be heard in seven major cities. He worked hard in clubs all over the country (i.e. opened for Dego, Afronaught, Howie B, Richard Dorfmeister, US3, King Britt, Patrick Forge, Snowboy, Seiji) to develop his eclectic organic style, which he now calls Global Dance Fusion. Maceo's taste is strongly rooted in black music - soul, jazz, funk and afrobeat; however for his dj sets he prefers more futuristic approach - nu-jazz, broken beats, 21st century soul, afrotech, moder brasilica, deep and jazzy house, digital dub & hip-hop are his weapons of choise. Maceo's mixing is very diverse; it's all about blending different rhythmic patterns in order to keep people surprised without loosing a vibe. Musical journey from pyramides to spaceships, where past, present and future become one.

When Maceo met Envee in spring 2002, after a few conversations it became obvious that these two should work together.

Envee has been makin' music since 1992 using his computer and electronic instruments. He had his breakthrough, when one of his tracks was published on a Radiostacja compilation featuring new promising dance artists from Poland. He composed music for two movies, several theatre plays (i.e. provided a soundtrack for an italian theatre play based on the movie “Innocent Sorcerers”) and commercials. Envee is no doubt one of the most talented new electronica producers in Poland right now. He released his debut album "Envee & The Innocent Sorcerers" on Kayax Records in 2002. The track taken off the album called “Gold” was licenced to Perfect Toy label to open a compilation “Panorama: New Europa Fusion”, put together by mr.Tom Wieland.

For the last five years, Envee & Maceo have been makin’ their money dj’ing at various clubs all over Poland, but also played in UK, France, Slovakia, Austria & Hungary.

The Innocent Sorcerers DJ team also includes DJ's Jealo (deep house, electro, boogie & soul) & Misty (underground hip-hop, funk, disco, reggae, polish jazz).

The secret weapon of the Innocent Sorcerers collective is Manchester born, London raised MC Sean Palmer. Sean came to Poland to teach acting at Lodz University. He was a DJ at Maceo's funk/soul collective Soul Power and eventually decided to grab the mic, to achieve a stunning effect! There's no thing thet Sean wouldn't be able to do on the mic. He can rap, he can toast, he can beatbox; he can also dub himself when there's no effects on the mixer, he can change voices, rewind, and boy, can he dance! Usually during the set Sean drinks two liters of milk, that's why the Sorcerers call him the Milkman. MC Sean Palmer is pure organic energy, believe and see!

For the last three years, the Innocent Sorcerers have been playin' the best clubs throughout Poland. Every month they invite their favorite personalities to play with them in their homecountry for the first time. The list includes Michael Reinboth (Compost Records), Joseph Malik, Tom Wieland (Les Gammas), Alex Dallas (Straight Ahead), Eddy Ramich (Eddy & Dus), Chris Vogado (Fluid Oz./Zero db), Rainer Truby & Shuya Okino (Kyoto Jazz Massive), Swell Session & Ernesto.

It was during one of those visits, that the Sorcerers got their first international record deal! The relationship with Chris Vogado resulted in two 12” singles for London based Fluid Ounce Records, “Believe & See” (feat. Joseph Malik) & “Anthem”. Among many remixes produced by Innocent Sorcerers for other artists, perhaps the one most worth mentioning is the rework of “Find Our Love” by Berlin duo Slope, released on Sonar Kollektiv in 2004.

In 2005 Innocent Sorcerers formed a six piece band, which, alongside Envee & Maceo includes Bartozzi on bass, Marcin Masecki on keys, Pablo on saxophone & Lipa on drums. The Sorcerers also cooperate live & in studio with Polands most known jazz trumpet player, ECM recording artist, mr. Tomasz Stanko.

The future looks bright for the Innocent Sorcerers. True music knows no borders!
