Quasimode is a 4 piece Jazz Band based in Tokyo, Japan, formed in 2002 with a sound that is based on 60's 70's authentic jazz. Besides, club and latin, the feeling is mixed. They bring forth the stylish groove by acoustics only. At times the Flugelhorn and Tenor Sax glamorize the tracks. The band consists of pianist Yusuke Hirado, percussionist Takahiro Matsuoka, drummer Takashi Okutsu and Kazuhiro Sunaga on bass.
YUSUKE HIRADO on fender rhodes, piano studied at New School in NYC, majoring in Jazz Performance. During his stay in NYC, he played with many jazz legends such as Richard Davis, Winard Harper and many more. After his stay in the States he returned to Japan and formed Quasimode.
TAKAHIRO "MATZZ" MATSUOKA on percussion has a lot of experience as a percussionist and also as a drummer, and he takes part in some of the recordings, live supporting energetically. His rythmical play is necessary for the Quasimode sound making.
TAKASHI OKUTSU on drums started learning to play the instrument as early as elementary school. He is also a DTM-savy and has handled the recording and mixing of Quasimode.
KAZUHIRO SUNAGA on bass. Although being a very young bass player, he has appeared in magazines and TV several times as an outstanding musician. He converted to jazz when he was 20 years old, and he has been a part of the evolution of the cool and funky jazz-style in Japan ever since. | |
