Demetrius Price - vocalist, songwriter, producer and DJ. Originally from the Bay Area, California, croon to the tunes of his fathers huge music collection. His father, who was a DJ (jingle personality) for a Jazz radio station in the Bay Area, took Demetrius to enormous amounts of concerts from the early age of five. That and being around relatives that have been professionally in the music business as musicians and vocalists, with such artists as Sly & the Family Stone, Tower of Power, Nancy Wilson and others gave Demetrius a special connection and understanding of soul, jazz and funk music.
Even though from a young age being deeply inspired by music, he was also known in the Bay Area as a talented baseball player. During his teenage years he kept himself busy as an athlete but still managed to keep his music influences alive. He formed a dance "pop lockin" singing group with his neighbourhood friends and performed in district talent shows. Though Demetrius had a nack for entertainment he still continued playing baseball through college.
During the summer of 1992 Demetrius made his first visit to Stockholm, Sweden and met a guy by the name of Swing Fly who introduced him to ADL - soul/hip hop producer, singer and rap artist - and worked with him on a few projects. In 1995, Demetrius returned to visit Sweden and participated on ADL’s album. The album later lead to a European tour sponsered by Hugo Boss.
In 1996 Demetrius received a single deal with MNW records and connected with the well known Swedish producer named Christian Falk for a downtempo soul single "All in the mind". During their session he lyricly wrote and performed a house song called "Make it right". Three years later "Make it right" was released on Christian Falk’s album “Quel Bordel” under Warner Bros, which took everyone by surprise becoming an underground hit worldwide and a mainstream hit in Sweden. The song was responsible for three Grammies in Sweden in which a year later became a big mainstream hit in the UK and gave Demetrius honors to be on the UK program "Top of the Pops".
Since then Demetrius has had single releases and has been on many compilations worldwide. He's on Markus Enochson's current album Night Games and also on Christian Falk's latest album "People Say" which has recently won a Swedish Grammy for best Dance Album.
Currently he's completing his debut album, introducing his own production style which spreads through downtempo, midtempo, experimental, whatever reaches his soul. His first single called "No Holdin’ Back" is out now under Raw Fusion Recordings with remixes by Markus Enochson! | |
